As you may or may not be aware that Microsoft announced that the ability to downgrade and use Office 2013 in your Office 365 subscription would only be available for a year after the Office 2016 release. Microsoft extended that for nearly two years and have now announced that Office 2013 will no longer be available for installation on an Office 36 subscription.

The official announcement from Microsoft is as follows:

Thank you for using Office 365. After February 28, 2017, Office 365 subscribers can no longer download or install Office 2013 from the Office 365 My Account web portal. To ensure the security of your Office suite and to get all of the latest features, upgrade to Office 2016 for free as part of your Office 365 subscription. See Why you should upgrade to Office 2016 for more details.

For the following products, customer support and troubleshooting also ends on February 28, 2017:

  • Office 365 ProPlus (2013)
  • Office 365 Small Business Premium (2013)
  • Office 365 Business (2013)
  • Project for Office 365 (2013)
  • Visio Pro for Office 365 (2013)

Office 2013 installations that are currently being used will continue to operate and work as you are currently using however, you will be unable to reinstall the Office 2013 version onto any existing or new devices.
