BT’s labs has hit speeds of 800Mbits/sec – and that’s using copper lines, not pure fibre.

Field trials carried out by the company have shown speeds of 800Mbits/sec downstream and more than 200Mbits/sec upstream over a 19m copper cable, while speeds of 700Mbits/sec and 200Mbits/sec respectively were achieved over a 66m cable.
