GDPR – What is it and what does it mean for your business?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is a regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission intend to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union (EU).

With a data breach following the introduction of GDPR on May 25th 2018 this could result in a fine of up to €20 million or 4% of annual turnover of the previous year, whichever is higher.

With this in mind customers need to be thinking and planning for GDPR now to ensure that they are as GDPR compliant as possible.

Please make contact with Ashby and we can assist and advise where possible as to what you and your business should be doing to ensure you are GDPR compliant, and as such avoid these hefty fines which are coming in shortly.
