We are bringing to your attention the notification by Microsoft that Windows 7 is soon to become end of life by Microsoft. The date of when this will occur will be January 14 2020.

What does this mean?

Essentially Microsoft are to stop offering any windows updates, security patches, or support following this date

What does this mean to you as a business?

Essentially nothing is going to stop working, nothing will stop with regards the support that Ashby Computers offer to yourselves, but it does mean that if you continue to uses these devices past this date then you need to be made aware of the risks.

What options do we have?

1. You can continue to use the devices with no ill effects but your devices will become a security risk following this date
2. Certain devices can be upgraded to windows 10. This upgrade is an in place upgrade and can be done remotely but there is a cost for the windows 10 licence
3. New machines all now come with Windows 10 and as such you will be protected
