We have recently become aware of an issue with regards to a Microsoft update released on the 8th December 2015 that causes Outlook 2010 to load in safe mode only.

This update causes add ins, search and other parts of the program to become disabled. To determine if you are affected by this, please look at the top of the Outlook 2010 window, if it says Outlook 2010 (Safe Mode) – then your machine has the problem.

Removing the update KB3114409 from the affected PC and rebooting resolves the issue.

This KB article issue only affects Outlook 2010 – other versions of Outlook are not affected by this problem.
