Scorpion Security – Site Move
Initially a Manned Guarding company, Mike created the Scorpion branding and the striking high-profile Keyholding and Patrol response vehicles that others now replicate across the security industry today.
Challenges
Key challenges included:
- Ensuring continuity of static IP-based services such as CCTV and cloud backups.
- Coordinating the move around operational hours to minimise disruption.
- Managing the physical relocation of IT infrastructure and ensuring immediate post-move functionality.
Solution
- Pre-move site survey and technical consultation at no cost
- Coordination with Scorpion’s fibre provider (BT) to retain static IPs and ensure seamless network transition
- Planning for contingency cabling between units in case of delays in fibre activation
- Booking and executing installation and testing sessions across multiple days, including a Sunday to avoid business disruption
Implementation/Process
- Planning & Coordination: Initial discussions began in January 2025, with a move target of early April. Dates were pencilled in for early March to begin preparations
- Pre-Move Survey: A walkthrough of the new premises was conducted to assess infrastructure needs and confirm technical requirements
- Installation & Testing: The main installation took place on a weekend, with a follow up visit the following week to cover any post move issues
- Post-Move Support: Immediate follow-up confirmed that all systems were operational and the transition had been smooth
Results/Benefits
- Operational Continuity: All critical services, including CCTV monitoring and cloud backups, remained uninterrupted due to careful planning around static IP retention
- Cost Efficiency: The move to a smaller unit significantly reduced overheads while maintaining operational capacity
- Minimal Downtime: The move was executed over a weekend, with full functionality confirmed by the next business day
- Customer Satisfaction: Mark Bennett, Managing Director of Scorpion Security, expressed appreciation for the smooth process and the support provided
