Situation
A local engineering company in Northamptonshire had the requirement to speed up their networking infrastructure to enable faster data transfers and to build in redundancy.
Approach
We visited and audited the sites infrastructure, from this audit we conversed with the customer and put forward a plan to them.
The customer required a 10GE backbone to his switch infrastructure and a redundant loop creating between his 2 main buildings.
This meant that the current infrastructure would need changing, we sourced Dell Switches for replacing all the current switches on site. The customer arranged an upgrade to their Fibre links between the buildings on their site.
Once all the equipment was in place, we setup the equipment with Layer 3 technologies, copying the current configuration, and building in parts the customer wanted changing.
When the infrastructure was ready and tested out of production, we planned a weekend install for the customer to minimise downtime and impact on the business. In one weekend we changed 12 switches onsite, setup the 10GE backbone, redundancy, fully tested the infrastructure and handed over the customer.
Impact and Advantage
The customer is very happy and has noted an impressive increase in speed across the site.
The redundant links are working and allow the customer peace of mind should there be a problem with the fibre links to the buildings.
