Situation

A locally based Financial Planning Firm, a Discretionary Asset Manager and Tax planning specialist.

They have very old hardware on site and poor networking across their Grade listed Building. This all requires upgrading and modernising.

Approach

The older server needed to be migrated to something newer, with as many services pushed to the cloud that will allow, but still keeping security and compliance for the FCA regulations.

Also in the mix of the project was a site move from their old property to their new property that is to be their home for the future.

To this end, all emails were migrated to Office with 2FA for security, half their data was moved to SharePoint and the other half of the data was retained onsite for security purposes. This data was on a brand new HP server, with Virtualization enabled, allowing a better base for the future needs of the company.

Over a weekend the whole site was moved over, the IT equipment was reconnected, new Unifi Switches and Access Points were installed to upgrade the older networking infrastructure. The first working day after an engineer only needed to be onsite for 1 hour to mop up.

Impact and Advantage

The new offices and the new Cloud based systems have moved OCM into the future for their IT needs.

The systems are faster and allow OCM to conduct business in and efficient and effective manor.
