Situation
A visual communication, marketing and training company required the ability to work remotely from multiple countries and time zones seamlessly.
The customer had an older Windows Small Business Server 2003 server and were experiencing issues accessing data and emails remotely from other countries, and problems with reliability of the systems. The customer also had issues with spam management.
Approach
We were approached to upgrade and migrate them to a more decentralised system, allowing them to work freely from anywhere in the world.
Our first step was to look at the systems in place and find out the flaws. We soon realised that the customer would require a cloud based solution and to this end we proposed Office 365.
Office 365 allows us to move their emails to the cloud, as well as allowing the customer real time communication through Skype for Business and collaboration and sharing of files through One Drive and Sharepoint.
We coupled the Office 365 email with a third party email filtering system for management of the spam issues the customer had.
The customer still required an onsite server for Domain and File resources, so we migrated these services to newer hardware from HP with minimal downtime for the end users.
Impact and Advantage
This solution has resolved the customer’s issues and allowed them to expand their international workforce, including opening a new office in Kenya.
